10 Short Prayers to God

Paul writes some wonderful words of comfort in Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Whether your heart is troubled or filled with joy, go to God in prayer. He will give you a peace unlike any other. Here are 10 short prayers. Start here and then simply tell God what’s on your mind.

Prayer for Non-Christians

Dear Jesus, my Lord and Savior, you are the Good Shepherd who promises to seek and save the lost. I pray that you would send your Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of unbelievers. Open their hearts to your love and saving grace. Always guide my words to be a witness of you and your eternal kingdom.

Prayer for Forgiveness

Dear Heavenly Father, I have made many mistakes and have sinned against you. I tried to cover up my sins and hide them, but nothing can bring me peace except forgiveness through your son, Jesus Christ. Lord, I am sorry for what I have done. Please ‘wash me as white as snow’ and fill my heart with peace.

Prayer for Overcoming Fear

Lord God, I have so many worries and fears. I am struggling in this world of sin and evil. How can I feel secure? Lord, help me to rest in your almighty power and love. Take all the worries from my heart and mind. Fill me with confidence in your Word and be with me as I face my problems.

Prayer of Joy

Dear Father in Heaven, I thank you so very much for all the blessings you have given me. You have provided me with more than I need or deserve. Teach me to always come to you in thanksgiving. To God be all glory!

Prayer for Children

Gracious Lord, you dearly love all children. I ask that you will help these children to grow up strong in body, mind, and spirit. Guide their parents to be strong Christian role models. Send your angels to protect these little ones wherever they may go. Give them peace in the promise that you will always be with them.

Prayer for a New Job

Dear God, you have promised to guide me in all of my ways. I pray that you would guide me as I search for a new job. I praise you for all the talents and abilities you have given me. Keep my mind strong and my heart always faithful. Help me to work for your greater good and at all times as a faithful Christian.

Prayer During Sickness

Heavenly Father, I come to you and ask that you will provide healing for my body. Please be with the doctors and nurses as they treat this illness. Guide their hands as they bring relief from the pain. Even when I’m discouraged and depressed, stay by my side and show me comfort. Ultimately, You are the Great Physician, and healing is in Your hands. Iit is to You I come for help!

Prayer for People Serving in the Military

Almighty Lord, I pray that you would protect the men and women in our military that are serving here at home and far away. Keep their faith strong in this time of danger. Guide them as they serve our county and send you holy angels to watch over them.

Prayer After the Death of Loved One

Lord, I come to you with a heavy heart. This loss has taken away my joy and left me with so many tears of sorrow. Comfort me, Lord, with Jesus’ victory over death. He conquered the grave and has given me eternal life. Thank you for the blessed assurance that we no longer fear death, but rejoice in the promise of our Heavenly home.

Prayer for Travel

Dear God, I am thankful for the opportunity to see more of this beautiful Earth that you created. Go with me and keep me save during my travels. Give me grace to show your love to everybody I meet. I pray that you will also grant me safe travel as I return home.
